Wisdom For Today
I'm not sure of all of the people that read this blog and why they do, but those people that know me now that I'm a very passionate individual. I'm very eager to help out even though I have a tremendously hard time reaching out for it myself.
There are things that I do very, very well. Obviously, media relations, publicity and sports information - as well as building relationships to foster the success of those things - is something that I do (without the formal education) as well as anybody else around.
But sometimes all of the things that we do well can be for naught on the inside without the right amount of emotional support or having to deal with an emotional train wreck around us.
That's me right now.
If there was one piece of advice that I could pass out on a personal level, communicate with the people that you are closest to (especially those that you are in a relationship with) and never ever hold back on them. What you don't say and what you don't communicate is so much more damaging than the words that come out in anger and hate. I believe that the removal of the former fosters the latter - because issues go unresolved to neither parties benefit.
If you truly love somebody or care about someone, don't pass up the chance to tell them that you love or care about them - even if they've hurt you. While sometimes it can be hard, it is fairly easy to say, "I love you, but you hurt me" or give them a hug and say, "I care about you, but we need to talk."
Maybe that simple act - kind words backed up by a hug or a kiss - that you provide is what keeps them from slipping into an emotional abyss.
